Found foootage (genre)

The genre for my film - Isolation, will be the genre of Found Footage. Found footage is a genre for films which are filmed using a video camera by one of the characters in the film. The film is presented as an edit of recovered footage. This genre of of film is often used with Horror as a sub-genre.

Empire Article

Being that my article is for EMPIRE magazine, I have done the obvious thing in taking inspiration from from the magazine itself. I admire the text belonging with the image, and the black and white effect on the image. The calmness of the page has the ability to make readers forget they're reading a magazine, the smoothness of the page has the feel of a poster.

In this article, also by EMPIRE, the page focuses solely on the text, this has the ability to seem slightly un-interesting for readers, EMPIRE use a range of colours in the texts to make the page feel more vibrant. The inclusion of a red border on the page adds to the attempt of a vibrant nature. The image to the right of the text appears that it would follow on to the next page, this image is likely to include a screen-shot from the film being written about, in this case it is Twilight.

Costume - Shoes

The costume will be used to suit the younger generation, this will be done because the main character is a college reporter, so therefore being around the tender age of 18. These shoes are fashionably popular for teenagers and young adults.

Setting

The Setting for the trailer links to the plot of it being based in the coutryside. The majority of the filming done will be based in the woodland area outside of Pirton, a small village in Hertfordshire.

Costume - Balaclava

I am considering using this Balaclava as a prop for costume in the advert, I'd perhaps use it in short frames used for impact and shock. However I doubt that I will use it because it doesn't suit me incredibly well, and there's a possibility that viewers will see the Balaclava as something for comedy value, as it does look rather silly on me.

Setting

 The trees bend inwards to the path, creating an illusion the trees are watching whoever passes. This creates an eerie atmosphere if used in film and creates a sense of danger.

 The wire fencing represents danger. This connects to the plot of danger being a key theme; the downward hill gives the impression of their being more to see of the area, the large bushes covering pathways also give the same impression.

As I have mentioned, barbed wire fencing can represent danger, it also represents a warning to whoever passes it, it can symbolise taking a step into danger. The tree's awkward shape can seem creepy for viewers.

I have decided that I will use this setting for the film trailer, I need a woodland and forest setting to connect to the plot of poltergeist activity in the Hertfordshire countryside, and this setting suits perfectly.
